MergeCo Timeline

A short history

We founded MergeCo in 2005 to help our clients preserve and extract value when undertaking mergers, acquisitions (M&A) and strategic exits. With a background in large scale, cross-border corporate M&A, much of our early activity was with transactions in the $100-$500 million range. Since 2008, we have discovered that an understanding of corporate M&A can be employed very effectively for the benefit of private clients seeking a strategic exit. Knowing what a corporate acquirer  wants from an acquisition means we are able to build a strategic value proposition that benefits both parties.

MergeCo has experience with transactions right across the M&A mid-market  continuum ($5-$500 million). Industry experience includes transport and logistics, IT and telecommunications, print and digital media, financial services, health and life insurance, events management, marketing and public relations, manufacturing and engineering services, amongst others.

In 2008, we combined practitioner experience with an exhaustive examination of 30 years of M&A research to identify the key drivers of value in each phase of M&A activity. 30 value drivers were tagged and we invited prominent Australian corporate acquirers to assist us in validating each of these. This process gave rise to our proprietary M&AVal ® benchmarking  and SETUP4Success ® best practice frameworks.
